On Sunday, October 16, the cleaning day "Per a net sea" took place on the coast in Les Rotes, the breakwaters of the port of Dénia and the beaches of Punta Raset and Albaranes. The 226 volunteers, including citizens and staff from collaborating companies, collected around 500 kilograms of waste.
The closing of the day took place in the vicinity of the Port of Dénia, where diplomas were distributed, in addition to brooms made with the plastic collected in the previous edition, to all the people involved in the cleaning.
The day was used to present the recycled scrap metal sculpture made by Fallas artist Rafa Cheli for the event: a native Mediterranean fish (Thalassoma pavo) 3 meters high by 4,5 meters long, with a width of about meter forty. Cheli spoke about the importance of environmental awareness. According to the Dianense artist, "showing the waste for everyone to see is a way of impacting the public, even more so if they blend in with the ecosystem" (in this case, the marine biodiversity of the Mediterranean).
The Councilor for Ecological Transition, Mait Pérez Conejero, thanked the involvement and commitment of the volunteers and companies to make the cleanup event possible.
