With the aim of giving new impetus to the management of the Department of Health of Dénia, the Department of Health and Universal Public Health has authorized the change in the management of the department. From now on, Luis Carretero will replace Ángel Giménez as manager of the Dénia Health Department.

He also carried out, at 2002, the Hospital Management Program of IESE. He has been, since November of 2015, director of DKV Services, and in the last year he has been performing coordination tasks between the insurance company and the Dénia Hospital.

Previously, he had been managing director of the Health Service of Castilla la Mancha (SESCAM) (August 2011 - July 2015), managing director of the Son Espases University Hospital (February 2010 - July 2011), director of Management and Planning of the Balearic Health Service (July 2007-February 2010), Vincles Consultores (February 2004-July 2007) and managing director of the Son Dureta University Hospital (April 2002-February 2004).

He was also managing director of the Hospital Alcorcón Foundation and deputy managing director of the University Hospital Virgen de las Nieves, Granada (1998-2000). He has also been, in several stages, professor of the Andalusian School of Public Health.

Carretero takes over from Ángel Giménez, who joined the management of the Dénia Health Department in 2009, a year after it was commissioned. He is a Doctor in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Valencia with a master's degree in Senior Health Management and has authored multiple research papers.

He began his career in 1982 as a specialist in surgery in various public hospitals in the Valencian Community, including the Dénia Hospital. He was medical director at the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia for three years, from 1995 to 1998. In 1999, he moved to Hospital La Ribera and held the position of medical and research and teaching director until his incorporation to the Department of Health of Dénia.

From Marina Salud have shown their gratitude to the dedication and commitment of Angel Giménez to the front of the health department throughout these 8 years, considering that «su aportación ha sido decisiva para su desarrollo y el excelente servicio ofrecido a la ciudadanía de la Marina Alta. Asimismo, le desea todo lo mejor en la nueva etapa profesional que emprenda».
