The last heat wave is already a distant memory. And not because much has happened since then, but because by now we believed that the hottest days of the year were already over.
Summer is nearing its final stretch and August is just 4 days away from saying goodbye, but the heat persists and it seems reluctant to say goodbye this year. Today, August 27, the thermometers will shoot up again in Dénia with maximums of 35 degrees.
Historically, in this month, the average maximum temperature is 28,4º. However, this 2021 during August, maximum temperatures that did not drop below 30º have been experienced almost daily. As a clear example the last week, where registering 31º seemed a relief or a «return to normality» given the records of previous days.
The lack of rains, being one of the driest August in recent years, may have meant that temperatures do not drop to the usual 25 average.
Be that as it may, it will be hot today. Very hot. We will live one of the hottest days of the year to say goodbye to August. After this Friday, temperatures will drop again, but still with highs above 30º.
