The women who gave voice to Radio Dénia will be honored by the City Council

January 25 from 2024 - 14: 05

The Women's Council has decided, unanimously, to honor the first radio hosts of Dénia on the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day (March 8). «They are pioneering women, the first radio announcers in Dénia and in the Marina Alta, who represented the voice of their gender in our society in a difficult historical context, which runs through the Civil War and the Franco regime until the Transition," indicates the councilor for Equality and Diversity, Javier Scotto.

From the creation of the city's first radio station, Radio Dénia, in 1933, until the beginning of the Transition, eleven women paved the way with their voices to the history, development and consolidation of radio in our city. They are Maria Marsal; Amparo Marsal; Pepita Cabrera; Paquita Ribes; Manolita Marco; Rosita Oltra, Conchita Alemán; Marisa Ferrándiz; Rosa Pastor; Maite Marzá and Ana Albarracín, according to data extracted from the article The media in Dénia: radio broadcasting that Vicent Balaguer published in number 12 of Aguaits magazine (1996) and in the Dictionary of Valencian Audiovisuals of the Generalitat Valenciana.

Marisa Ferrándiz and Ana Albarracín, living memory of this history, will personify the honorees at the event to be held on March 8 at the Social Center.

«All these women are the first to pick up a microphone to announce the history of equality on the radio. It is true that in many cases their voices were used to announce advertising, activities or feminized programs, but even this meant declaring the job of waves as a job also for women," says Councilor Scotto, and adds "it was a time when Women's voices were silenced, which is why the first radio announcers were the voices of all of them. With their voice they defended the voice of their genre, giving to the current voices on the radio, but also to the editors, sound technicians, editors or correspondents. "They are the voices that have opened the way for all women on the radio."

Just to indicate my admiration for all of them, and I would like to know and if it were possible to contact (have a coffee) which announcer was on February 23, 1981, my memory is already failing me quite a bit but I want to remember that it was Maite.
I am a public official who that night we were keeping him company.
