This Monday the 26th the inauguration of the remodeled urban garden built in the occupational center of La Xara by the mayoress took place Maite Pérez Conejero. This initiative is framed within the "Cultivem Integrem" project, carried out between the Aprosdeco association and La Xarxa Agrícola de la Marina Alta.
The project began at the end of 2021 and consists of an occupational workshop in the agricultural field where users learn a trade. Various activities are currently being carried out: sowing workshops, orange harvesting for juice production, compost creation, sheep grazing workshop and now, also, vegetable crops for own consumption.
The creation of this urban garden is one more step towards the training and realization of the users of the Association, who see in this initiative an occupational workshop that takes place outdoors, that has direct contact with nature and, in addition, they can grow their own products and consume them in the center's own kitchen.
The occupational workshop is about to become self-sustaining, since a small greenhouse is necessary to give viability to the plants of the planting workshop. The seedlings will be planted in the same orchard and will also be offered to the farmers who are part of the Xarxa Agrícola.
This initiative of a social nature has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the Town Hall of La Xara, the Department of Agriculture of the Town Hall of Dénia, Creama, the Els Cova de Pedreguer Livestock Farm and the JGPS nursery of Xàbia. Executed by the Xarxa Agrícola and framed in the Regional Agreement on Employment and Local Development of the Marina Alta - PACTE'MA.
