Unesco said no to the project Dianense

December has started badly for the city of Denia to know that UNESCO has not appointed Creative City of gastronomy. The three populations that are incorporated as creative cities in the culinary category are; Tsuruoka (Japan), Shunde (China) and Florianópolis (Brazil).

Blow to the tourism sector in the Marina Alta region, who had high hopes for a project that meant a great support to the city of Dénia as a tourist destination. Now it remains to wait for the next call to try to be re-named.

The mayor, Ana Kringe, appreciated Unesco's decision with these words: "We met all the requirements to have been chosen, but we were warned that it would be complicated to be the first year we were running. Now we have to continue working and see that we can improve our project".

For her part, Cristina Sellés, president of the Marina Alta Hospitality Association, commented that "It has been three years of work, I think we have a project just and good. We know the criteria on which they have relied for election"Stamps pointed out that"Unity is strength, this is not the end but the beginning, now more than ever we must continue with the union of all levels and resubmit our application, studying where to improve".

It was announced that the next January 25 opens the deadline for submitting nominations and Kringe announced that "We meet to see what we can improve. It is the best we have started a big way and not starting from scratch, we intend to resubmit the nomination".

The two thanked all levels and institutions that have supported the candidacy of Dénia a creative city of gastronomy and congratulated the cities of Bilbao city chosen as creative design and Granada as a creative city in the literary field.
