UNED claims that the municipalities implement a plan for equality

Associated Center of the UNED in Dénia continues the series of debates on current issues that are being held monthly. This month, the theme has been The Public Policies of Equality and its implantation in societyA day in which participated as speakers Laura Mercado, the feminist collective Femme Força Pedreguer; Rosa María Medel, as a representative of the Association matria; and the director of the UNED Associated Center of Denia, Raquel Martí.

Debate on equality policies in the UNED Dénia

Martí opened the debate by reviewing what is meant by public equality policies, implemented for the first time in years 70, a plan that "Many companies and institutions are not taking the necessary measures to make effective equality a reality".

In his speech, Raquel Martí claimed the need for the various public administrations, among which are the municipalities comply with current legislation and design, implement and evaluate a genuine equality plan that, among other issues, prevention discriminatory behavior.

Attending the debate on equality policies

Laura Mercado described the conclusions of a European survey on gender violence, prepared after interviewing 42.000 women between 18 and 74 years, which shows that 33% of women have experienced physical and / or sexual violence since the 15 years, having been violated an 5% of them. From Matria, Rosa María Medel commented on the transversal nature of gender violence. "It is something that affects us all and that must be analyzed from different points of view"He said.

The cycle of debates being organized by the Associated Center of the UNED Dénia continue on Wednesday, April 20, focusing on Evictions. The May 12, Thursday, the debate will focus around new models of participation, concluding the cycle of debates on Friday, June 17, talking about Europe.
