The Nit de Sant Joan returns to Dénia without restrictions and without bonfires on the beach

21 June 2022 - 12: 27

Next Thursday, June 23, the coast of Dénia is expected to be filled with families and friends who are going to celebrate the traditional Nit de Sant Joan near the sea. Summer will be welcomed, as usual, with rituals such as jumping the waves. However, little else can be skipped, since the bonfires will not be invited to the appointment.

This morning the presentation of the police device for the summer took place in the Dénia town hall, in which it was discussed how both the Local and National Police faced this coming night of June 23. After two years of pandemic, the beach will finally be open to welcome all those who want to celebrate the holiday.

Anti-bonfire device and bottles

Now, it should be remembered that it is forbidden to make bonfires along the entire coastline. To avoid this, an information campaign will be carried out through the public address system of the beaches during that day. In addition, there will be a special surveillance device, with three patrols from the Local Police and six from the National Police in the afternoon, which will become six and five, respectively, at sunset. Aerial surveillance will also be carried out with the drone along the beach during the last hours of the day to locate the accumulation of materials for possible bonfires.

Likewise, they have recalled that the consumption of alcoholic beverages on the beach is prohibited, so the practice of bottle drinking will not be allowed and action will be taken to avoid it. The National Police will have a van with equipment to deter altercations.

Avoid any flame before the red alert

On this occasion there will be a special focus on avoiding the use of any pyrotechnic element and flying lanterns, or Chinese lanterns, which have become popular in recent years. They have insisted that our area is still on red alert for fires, so any spark must be prevented from reaching the plant areas.
