November 08 from 2022 - 20: 08

Unusual image lived in Dénia on Tuesday afternoon. Some thirty catering establishments have been left without power at 19:00 p.m., when the sun has long since disappeared from the sky. But it has not been due to any failure, but rather it is a protest action against the price of electricity.

Faced with the "extremely serious" situation, as described by the organizers of the blackout, which most of the hospitality establishments in Spain are going through, due to the rise in prices led by electricity and gas, the hospitality sector has carried out a symbolic blackout of the light of the catering establishments of emblematic points of different Spanish cities. A protest to which 28 establishments from the Marina Alta have not hesitated to join, the vast majority from Dénia.

For a moment the picture has been curious, so to speak. The completely dark premises have continued to receive their customers and serve, but without a glimpse of light. However, this blackout has only lasted 5 minutes, enough to put on the table the discomfort of the sector regarding the current energy rates.
