The Generalitat puts out to tender the construction of the Dénia workshop that will allow the departure of the first train from the station to be advanced one year

04 2022 April - 12: 18

The Generalitat, through Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), has tendered for 770.973,90 euros, VAT included, the execution of the works of the construction project for the adaptation of the workshop of the Denia station of the TRAM d'Alacant. Likewise, it has also tendered, for 92.949,78 euros, VAT included, the construction management, technical assistance and health and safety coordination of the work to be carried out in this project. In total, the investment amounts to 863.923,67 euros, VAT included.

With the opening of the bidding process, the procedures are streamlined to complete the commitment of the Minister of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, Arcadi Spain, who recently announced in Dénia that the Generalitat will complete this year the necessary actions to fully recover the rail service of Line 9 of the TRAM d'Alacant between the end of this year and the beginning of the next to reconnect the capital of the Marina Alta, with Benidorm and Alicante.

For the Minister of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, "this is an important intervention for the residents of Dénia and the entire Marina, since with this action Line 9 will be able to start operating again and a An essential service to move around the region in a sustainable way for work, administrative or any other type of reason".

To make the service planned for the end of the year possible, the current trains on the line will run between Benidorm and Teulada and, from this station, a transfer to the new dual electrodiesel trains will have to be made, which will not entail additional waiting time, to finish the route and arrive at Dénia.

The aforementioned transfer is essential to access Dénia, whose route is already tramized. Currently, the diesel trains used in the first part of the route could not run along this route due to technical and accessibility reasons.

The Dénia workshop plays a fundamental role in this programming, since it will allow the necessary maintenance work to be carried out so that this planning can be carried out. It is expected to be in operation until the works on the three viaducts (Algar, Quisi and Mascarat) are completed, at which time the new dual trains could already run along the entire length of Line 9.

The action in the Dénia workshop building contemplates the works and works necessary for the adaptation of the facilities, in order to carry out the revision and maintenance work of the new dual trains to be used on Line 9 of the TRAM d 'Alacant.

I love that route as a tourist plan…if they promoted it well…the number of travelers would triple…and there would be no losses…I wish the works would finish and I would be able to enjoy it…

In June 2016, the train from Denia to Benidorm was closed for security reasons, the line was very bad...
Tracks, bridges and rolling stock have been renewed, initially the Quisi bridge in Benisa was reinforced and 6 double electric diesel engine trains were commissioned. Then it was found that the bridge could not hold these trains, a new bridge eleven million euros.
I wonder why they have not electrified the line to Benidorm, as Benidorm Alicante already is.
Much lighter single engine locomotive and less maintenance, weight of the diesel engine and weight of the diesel tank.
Perhaps this non-polluting electric-only train, if polished, would hold the Quisi bridge. In addition, the electric train, when slowing down and slowing down, returns electricity to the line.
I hope one day it will be electric but we could have put the catenary posts instead of the bridge.
Thank you very much Fernando Ribes

The line was discontinued for security reasons in July 2016.
At first, the Benisa bridge was restored, and the construction of double diesel and electric motor trains was commissioned, later it was found that the weight of these locomotives would not support the Benisa «Quisi» bridge, which by the way is of a beauty of extraordinary engineering.
I wonder why the line to Benidorm has not been electrified, after remodeling everything.
Dual trains with one electric and one diesel motor plus the weight of the diesel tank would have been avoided.
An electric-only train perhaps if it had had the weight for the old bridge (we saved the weight of the diesel engine and the weight of the diesel tank, and also at a lower weight, less wear and tear on the tracks and sleepers, in addition to the eleven million euros it costs the new bridge, and not polluting with fumes from the diesel engine,Talgo is already experimenting with a non-polluting hydrogen engine.
When braking, electric locomotives return electrical energy to the line…they do not pollute, they save money and weigh much less….longer track life.
I hope they catch on and one day be just electric.
    Ferdinand Ribes
