The Consell approved Friday measures to alleviate the damage caused by the storm that has swept Valencia in recent days 27 and 28 in November last year.
The heavy rainfall and the wind have caused damage to public property and crops, agricultural infrastructure and local, agricultural and forestry road networks. The President of the Council, Ximo Puig, stressed that, "we will evaluate everything that has happened and, based on that analysis, we will take steps to seek the cooperation of the Government of Spain and tackle the most complicated situations that have occurred in some areas and deteriorated road infrastructure or other critical infrastructure".
During the storm, the Comunitat Valenciana has suffered a series of tempestuous phenomena of unusual intensity, exceeding in some areas the 100 liters per square meter in 24 hours. Faced with this situation, the Valencian Government has initiated the pertinent actions to get as soon as possible the return to normality of all the areas that have been affected throughout the Region.
In this regard, the decree that will be approved this Friday states that a deadline of 30 days, counted from the publication of this agreement in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV), will be established so that affected municipalities can present their estimates of damages, infrastructures and public goods, as a consequence of the rains.
Once the applications have been submitted, an evaluation will be carried out by a technical commission chaired by the director of the Emergency Security and Response Agency.
In addition, the commission will make a budget estimate charged to the Contingency Fund for the 2017 exercise. In the case of exceeding the budgeted budget, it will be possible to establish apportionment among all the eligible actions, which will be charged to the Contingency Fund for the 2017 exercise. All this without prejudice to the fact that the competent departments can co-finance from their own ordinary funds the actions foreseen until the 100 by 100 of their cost.
