Gastronomy and nautical center the first day of Dénia in Fitur

The promotion of the candidacy of Dénia as the Gastronomic City of Unesco and the project of the nautical station of Dénia centered yesterday the first day of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) in which Dénia participates during this week.

Early in the morning, the Princes of Asturias inaugurated this edition of the fair, one of the most important worldwide and which has been meeting destinations and businesses around the globe.

The day for Dénia, which participates one more year under the umbrella of the Costa Blanca Board of Trustees, began with a meeting in which the mayor, Ana Kringe, participated with the president of the Spanish Association of Nautical Resorts, Joan Campolier, with the objective of proposing a relaunch of the project in our city.

The objective of the meeting, in which the president of the Marina Alta Nautical Station, Sergio Smit, and Gabriel Martínez, captain-director of Marina de Dénia, also participated, was to change the current concept of nautical station with a regional name and that it becomes meet under the Dénia brand, an initiative that will be presented to the provincial deputy for Tourism, Joaquín Albadalejo next week.

The mayor continued the day with na interview on Spanish television in which promoted the candidacy of Dénia as Gastronómica City of Unesco. And, these days, the tourism department takes advantage of the contacts at the show to get the support of the cities that have been designated as Creative City of Gastronomy and without which it would not succeed candidacy.

On the stand of Dénia they passed the president of the Balearic Islands, José Ramón Bauzá, the president of the council of Alicante, Luisa Pastor, and several mayors of the region who share location with Dénia.

In the afternoon, the Councilor for Tourism, Pepa Font, attended the ceremony to hand over the flags of nautical stations, an award that rewards the excellence of the destinations that are committed to nautical tourism.

Today, Thursday, Fitur celebrates the Valencian Community Day and Dénia takes its Falleras Mayores, Sara Femenía and Paloma Mengual, to visit, who will attend accompanied by the president of the Fallera Local Board, Jaume Bertomeu.
