The water bill in Dénia will increase by 8,6% and the IBI will also grow by 10%

10 October 2023 - 16: 10

Councilman Hacienda del Ayuntamiento de Dénia, Paco Roselló, has announced today that it will propose the modification of water rates because during 2022 there was an extra cost of more than 400.000 euros assumed by Aguas de Dénia. Furthermore, as explained by Roselló, this increase is necessary to absorb the increase in personnel costs, which have increased by 10%, the cost of maintenance which has increased by 19% and, above all, the electrical energy that has been shot up to 70%.

For 2024, the increase that will be requested is 8,60%, which means that for a consumption of 10 cubic meters you will have to pay 49 euros, and for a consumption of 25 cubic meters you will end up paying between 67 and 70 euros .

Roselló commented that this 8,60% increase is below the CPI for the period August 2019 to July 2023, which stands at 16%.

IBI increase

There will also be a modification of the tax ordinances to update the Real Estate Tax, which will increase by 10%, as well as the approval of a 50% IBI surcharge for homes unoccupied for more than two years, adopting the measures of the new regional law on uninhabited housing, which are those in which there has been no consumption of water or electricity or when there are no people registered in said property. In addition, this surcharge could be increased up to 100% for homes that have been uninhabited for more than two years.

Roselló has justified the increase in the IBI, justifying that the City Council plans to receive one million euros less in capital gains and another million less in urban planning licenses. Furthermore, "in 2024, the new and long-awaited bus service will have to go out to tender, which must improve the service, but which will leave a deficit of another 600.000 euros in the municipal coffers," according to the words of the Treasury councilor. Roselló has explained that the initial intention of the City Council with regard to the IBI was simply to update the cadastral values that have existed since 1989. But, before the POP that could not be done, so it has been necessary to increase the coefficient, which goes from 0,95 .1,05% to XNUMX%, Roselló stated.

Finally, in the extraordinary plenary session, bonuses for zero-emission and ECO vehicles will also be approved for the new nomenclature.

The vice mayor, Rafa Carrió, has stated that the local government's intention is not to raise taxes, but that it has had no choice but to increase them due to the enormous rise in electricity prices and that it will try to lower said taxes as soon as there is an opportunity.

It seems that the City Council wants to reward its citizens with a tax gift to brighten their day! After all, who doesn't enjoy paying more for the same deplorable services?

The city council has justified this brutal attack on citizens' wallets with lame excuses. Increases in personnel, maintenance and electrical energy costs? Please! What will be next? A “breathing tax” due to increased pollution? Maybe they can install meters in our noses to charge us for inhaling polluted air!

And that's not all, the cherry on top of this tax cake is that the local government "has no intention of raising taxes." Oh sure! Because clearly the 10% increase in the IBI is just a measure to “keep things as they are”! What comes next? A “tax for doubting government claims”? And why not a “tax for not being a millionaire”? That would make a lot of sense!

News from the newspaper Las Provincias today:
“Today, the governing board of the Valencia City Council has approved the proposal for tax ordinances for 2024, which includes a significant tax reduction for 2024 and which will also mean a loss of income of 70 million euros for the municipal coffers. This is, as explained by the Councilor for Finance, Mª José Ferrer San Segundo, in the press conference after the government meeting, "the largest tax reduction carried out by the city council." Specifically, the IBI, capital gains, circulation tax and sewage tax are reduced, and the deadlines for paying taxes are made more flexible."

Thanks to progress from Denia... let's see if they take the example of serious City Councils concerned about their people.

Thank you progress from Denia. Learn from people who are serious and concerned about their people.

    Thank you!!!
And the people who voted for them… Seriously?
    What were you thinking about?

  5. Lourdes says:

This could have been paid with D*NA money designed for the rich, the new rich, progressives, and those who want to pretend. €250.000 that if they had gone directly to the coffers, the citizens of Denia would not have had to carry on their backs the poor management of the city council of PSOE and commitment.

  6. Juan says:

    Enjoy what you voted

  7. Joselito says:

Thank you Mr. Grimalt and your government team, this is what the citizens of Denia voted for. All those who complain do not recognize the great work they are doing and that we will be able to enjoy these next four years, we will see the result in the end and I hope that they gain the trust of the people again.

And salaries are going to rise in parallel? As they should with the increases in fuel, electricity and food? Of course not. A terrible piece of shit just like 10 years ago. All working just to pay, to survive, and without having a LIFE? What the hell is happening? Politicians in bubbles living their lives of luxury and disgusting companies of greed far from reality while people suffer. Welcome to the time of Franco again. It is slowly introduced communism and nothing more. What the hell? WHAT do we live with, working 40+ hours a week now, for NOTHING?! It's a joke?! Really. IT'S A JOKE?

  9. Bernard says:

These unqualified people would not survive one month in a commercial Company.
That is why they are in politics. And the Denia Citizens voted again for them!
    What is this telling us?

  10. It says:

This is what leftist progress has that governs us. When taxes are lowered everywhere so that citizens can live better and thus help them with their daily expenses, in Denia taxes and basic necessities such as water become more expensive.
So that? To fatten the coffers of a third world city without any return to the citizen, without transportation, without services, without sewage, without quality of life... Venezuela? A luxury next to this city mistreated by politicians who only look out for their own interests and who don't give a shit about the people.
    ENOUGH NOW!

They need money to pay their salaries.
