Racons desalination station, which manages Aqualia, is part of a pioneering project that seeks an improvement in water reuse and desalination process. In this regard, the desalter install a pilot test and cleaning plant osmosis membranes. The objective is the recovery of the membranes used in desalination after their useful lives (5 and 10 years) treatment for reuse as purified water for industrial use or agricultural irrigation. The initiative plans to eliminate waste and reduce costs.

The LIFE + Remembrane project, coordinated by Aqualia, has 950.000 euros aid from the European Union. So far the research has successfully recovered 7 8 of membranes collected for the project.
