The region dressed in mourning with the death of the writer Rafael Chirbes

The world of culture of the Marina Alta region is in mourning following the death last Saturday, the writer Rafael Chirbes to 66 years. A man who although born in Tavernes, lived in our region. Some of his years were spent in Las Rotas and then chose the mountains of the interior, specifically settled in Beniarbeig.

The surroundings of this municipality served as inspiration for the creation of "Crematorio" a critical novel in which the author describes perfectly the evolution of municipalities such as Denia or Xàbia and the problem of construction. A work with which he won the Critica prize at 2007. Another of his novels most recognized by critics is "En la Orilla", with which he won the National Narrative Award at the 2014.

The farewell of Rafael Chirbes took place yesterday, Sunday, in the Tanatorio Marina Alta of Dénia, there were, among others, Carmen Amoraga, writer and general director of culture of the Generalitat Valenciana and Albert Girona, regional secretary of the area of ​​culture.
