Next Thursday, November 2, the exhibition 'Juegos' opens, a sample of the plastic work of
Julio Palacios. It will be at 19:00 p.m. at the headquarters of the Territorial College of Architects of Alicante located at Calle del Mar, 6 in Dénia. The mayor of Dénia will attend the opening ceremony, Vicent Grimalt and the Councilor for Territory, Mª Josep Ripoll.
Regarding the exhibition, it can be highlighted that the sculptures of Julio Palacios (Santander, 1941) move between chance and mathematical logic, between Dadaism and Constructivism, forming their own style that reflects the essence of a life dedicated to art. Consecrated for years in architecture, his vital and energetic character has led to forays into both painting and photography, with the dialogue established with wood being the axis of his most recent sculptural production, as well as solid.
Palacios plays, explores and discovers multiple, organic and vibrant forms. Solid woods (pine, cypress, carob, olive, etc.) as an element make up an intuitive work that remains faithful to the personality of the garment, but also to the essential principles of sculpture.
The diversity of his work shows various artistic influences and experimental concerns. From anthropomorphic figures that connect with primitive South American art, with great symbolic load, to spatial abstraction in clear homage to the Basque sculpture of Oteiza and Chillida.
Julio Palacios, in his vision of life, is a sculpture modeler who preaches sustainable art to benefit the environment.
The exhibition "Games" by Julio Palacios can be visited at the headquarters of the College of Architects of Dénia until November 30, from Monday to Friday, from 09:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m.
