Ferrocarrils of the Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has awarded the works to renovate the track and refurbishment of the 9 line of the TRAM line in Alicante (Benidorm-Dénia), between the stations of Calp and Teulada, the FCT, CHM and Contracts and Sales SA The award amounts to 15,7 million euros, has an execution term of 12 months and includes the performances in tunnels, bridges and structures on the line. In turn, it has also been awarded the management of work and technical assistance for 565.768 euros.
This action is part of the work that the Conselleria of Housing, Public Works and Vertebración del Territorio is executing to modernize the 9 Line that links Benidorm and Denia. The joint budget of planned interventions exceeds 100 million euros and the deadlines to recover the railway traffic between Calp and Dénia in 2019 are being fulfilled, as planned.
The objective of these investments is to keep the operation in operation, guaranteeing the quality of the service with quality standards similar to the rest of the FGV network in Alicante. Following this action will continue the procedures for the contracting of the works planned in the section Teulada-Dénia to complete thus the process of modernization of the 9 Line.
Renewing these more than 12 kilometers of track will improve safety conditions, favor user comfort, track durability and reduced maintenance. In addition, the planned work includes the adaptation of the section to the new mobile material pending acquisition and that affects gauges (in tunnels, bridges and structures in line or stops) or structural conditions in tunnels or bridges.
Currently, the infrastructure improvement project for the Benidorm, Teulada, Gata de Gorgos and Dénia stations is also being implemented.
