Hospital HLA San Carlos, in collaboration with the Valencian Community transfusion center and the Denia City Council, organized on Wednesday the 5th Blood Donation Marathon on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, at the city's Social Center. This action is very important since it seeks to collaborate in the recovery of blood reserves that have been seriously affected during the pandemic generated by COVID-19.
A total of 80 donors showed up, of which 73 people were able to donate, four of them being first-time donors. The HLA Hospital San Carlos OfficeTogether with the other collaborating public entities, they want to thank all those people who came to the Social Center for doing their bit and thus being able to help in this great social work.
The councilor for Health of the city council, Don Javier Scotto, made an appearance at the event where he exchanged a few words with the organizers.
Each donation can save three lives, which means that the help of the San Carlos hospital could save 219 people. This activity, which has been carried out for the fifth time in HLA centers, aims to support authorized blood banks during their summer collection campaign, a season in which reserves need to be secured, since it is usual to have a greater need for blood. blood in this age.
