The VIII Dénia Jazz Festival opens on August 4 with the North American vocalist Carole Alston, a highly experienced performer who is accompanied by an excellent group that includes, among others, the Italian double bass player Paolo Furio Marasso and one of the revelation musicians in the national jazz panorama: the young drummer of Petrer Carles Pérez.

Thursday August 11

Jessie gordon

On August 11 it will be the turn to enjoy the talent of Jessie Gordon, the Australian vocalist on tour in Europe from her native Perth, who will stop in Dénia accompanied by a trio led by Buenos Aires pianist Federico Mazzanti.

Strongly influenced by Peggy Lee, Anita O'Day or Dinah Washington, Gordon has a great vocal personality and a charisma on stage that has made her stand out in recent years on the international scene and to perform on five continents.

Thursday August 18

Duke Ellington

As an outstanding novelty of the edition, the first project conceived and produced by the Dénia festival will be presented: the creation of the Ellingtonia Jazz Ensemble, a formation made up of renowned European musicians that will be presented on August 18 in Torrecremada with a concert to celebrate the figure and music of Duke Ellington.

It is an international formation “of authentic luxury that counts among its ranks musicians of the stature of the British trumpeter Paul Evans, the Dutch multi-instrumentalist Frank Roberscheuten on clarinet and alto sax, the French trombonist Samuel Marthé, the Polish pianist Richard Busiakiewicz ” and Enric Peidro himself. Peidro has added that the intention is to record the concert held in Dénia and release an album with the record in a few months.

Thursday August 25

Jerome Etcheberry

The person in charge of the closing concert of this eighth edition of the Dénia festival, on Thursday, August 25, is one of the most respected traditional jazz musicians both in his native France and on the European scene. From Paris, the trumpeter and singer Jerome Etcheberry will visit Dénia together with his group, The Hot Berries. With a style strongly rooted in tradition and citing Louis Armstrong, Red Allen and Roy Eldridge as his main influences, this French jazzman is one of the best musicians in his country and one of the most interesting representatives of his style throughout the world. . With an extensive discography and a career as long as it is abundant in achievements, it is worth noting that his album Satchmocracy, released in 2020, was recently awarded the prestigious “Prix du Hot Club de France” award.
