16 March 2015 - 13: 36

EUPV has spread this morning the referral protocols of patients from the Hospital of Dénia to the Hospital for Chronic and Long-Term Care of La Pedrera. Sanitat Minister Manuel Llombart sent the documentation to the deputy of Esquerra Unida Esther López Barceló earlier this month. The EU candidate for Alicante in the regional and also deputy spokesman of the parliamentary group had requested last January 28 to the President of the Courts a complete and literal copy of the protocols that Marina Salud applies.

López Barceló in view of the difficulties some hospital patients have had face to be referred to the Pedrera requested information so they could defend their rights.

Protocols applied Hospital Dénia

The document states that the Department attempt to define the criteria high specific policies for each assistance program, with the aim of improving the efficiency of La Pedrera and marking an appropriate goal average stay for each patient.

In order to facilitate the discharges and promote transparency between the centers, the following procedures were defined: identification of the patients in PUA situation (pending placement once the discharge was received), the reallocation of the assistance program, the authorization of ambulatory care in "Acquired Brain Damage Program" and the definition of valid interlocutors between the centers.

admission criteria for referral-General to La Pedrera and exclusion as well as specific criteria for each assistance program (acquired brain injury, convalescence, palliative care and long stay) were also established.

Typology of patients

Regarding the patients that can enter the Pedrera, the Consellería defined four types. Those people with an acute process or decompensation of a chronic disease that require clinical or rehabilitative cures aimed at regaining their level of autonomy, those who suffer acute brain damage with multiple deficits and who require cures or rehabilitation aimed at recovering a sufficient level of autonomy. Also those patients with a progressive worsening of a previous disease that require attention or control to adapt to their new situation and in which no significant improvement is expected. And in fourth the terminal patients who need attention and that this can not be administered at home.
