This month of June is going to be special for some 200 high school students from La Marina Alta and La Safor, who are going to have the opportunity to learn environmental education in a different and much more direct way thanks to an initiative of the Fundació Baleària.
This is Xpedicionaria, a project of awareness and environmental education on the importance of preserving the sea and minimizing the environmental impact of human activities in transport and home. Thanks to the Fundació, students are traveling to Formentera, where they visit different areas of environmental interest, attend talks and other environmental activities, such as Can Marroig (interpretation center of the Ses Salines d'Eivissa and Formentera Natural Park, which has the Es Freus marine reserve), the beach of Ses IlletesWhere training and ecological importance of the dune system, and other places of the island and the lighthouse of la Mola, its viewpoint or the village of Sant Francesc explained.
For the manager of the Foundation, Ricard Pérez, «esta actividad es un método eficaz para enseñar a los estudiantes la importancia del cuidado del medio para un futuro sostenible, además de ser una forma divertida y atractiva de ampliar los conocimientos sobre el medio ambiente».
The first to participate are students of IES 56 Gabriel Ciscar Oliva, and is expected to also involving students from Denia and Xàbia.
