The process of beatification of Pare Pere began its journey in Rome

17 June 2016 - 13: 21

Ten years after it began the process of beatification of Fray Pedro Esteve, better known as Pare Pere, the diocesan phase of collecting information and documents will be attributed, has ended. The next step is the Roman process, which will review the documentation submitted and decide whether the Dianense hermit deserves to be beatified.

That is why this afternoon, the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption will host the closing ceremony of the diocesan phase, an act that will be chaired by Joan Piris Frígola, bishop emeritus of Lleida. Once the diocesan phase is closed, the documentation of the canonization process will be sent to Rome, where it will be reviewed by experts and a commission of theologians.

The process of beatification of Pare Pere began in 2006 a proposal from the Cofradia Santissima Sang and Brother Enrique Oltra, custodian of the shrine of Pare Pere. During this time he has worked on finding information about the hermit who took up residence in the Montgó, next to the chapel that bears his name.
