The construction works of the new infant classroom at the Pou de la Muntanya school have already been completed, which will allow, starting this year, the students of this educational cycle, who until now attended classes at the Rodat facilities, along with primary school students.
The director of the school, Empar Bustos, has declared that "we like this unification very much and it was necessary, also at the level of the teaching staff, that we want to be and work together." She also believes that the regrouping of all the school's students in the same place will benefit families with children enrolled in both cycles.
The works, included in the 'Pla Edificant' educational infrastructure construction and improvement program launched by the Generalitat in 2018, were completed during the first fortnight of August and since then, various departments of the Dénia town hall, coordinated by the area of Education, are working with the staff of the educational center to move furniture and material and give the final touches so that everything is ready for the start of the course, on September 11, as indicated by the Councilor for Education, Melani Ivars.
The budget for the works, tendered, awarded and supervised by the Dénia City Council and fully financed by the Generalitat, has been approximately 1,6 million euros.
The new Pou infant classroom has two classrooms for 3-year-olds, another two for 4-year-olds and two more for 5-year-olds. Also, for the first time, there will be a classroom for 2-year-olds in the center. An initiative that has been very well received and has already completed the 18 places offered. This space for early childhood education is completed with a playground with a rubber pavement.
In addition, the works of the Pou have included the construction of a "modern and equipped" gym, in the words of the Councilor for Territory, Maria Josep Ripoll, two multipurpose classrooms and new changing rooms for the neighboring school of Les Vessanes, which until now shared this service with the Pou.
Visit to the facilities
This morning, the mayor, Vicent Grimalt, accompanied by the director and staff of the center, the vice mayor, Rafa Carrió, the Councilor for Territory, Maria Josep Ripoll, the Councilor for Education, Melani Ivars, and the Councilor for Creama and Employment, maria jose garcia, visited the children's classroom and the other new facilities in Pou de la Muntanya, "an example of what Pla Edificant has meant, which has allowed us to have new facilities in record time," he said.
