Last Friday, September 22, 2023, the IES Sorts de la Mar de Dénia celebrated the "Festa de l'Escaldà". On this occasion, the center's scalding oven, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) for being one of the few scalding ovens that exist in the Marina, was put into operation.
In collaboration with the Jesús Pobre Neighborhood Association, the 1st year ESO students had the opportunity to learn up close about the entire process of making raisins and the historical importance it had for Dénia.
This year, unfortunately, it was not possible to use the self-produced Moscatell grapes from the cultural and sustainable garden donated by the "Celler Les Freses", but it is expected that the next course will already be available.
The activity was supervised by students of basic vocational training in gardening and administration, as well as the PDC.
In addition, the students prepared traditional sweet cokes with raisins and salty cokes with sausages from the Marina Alta.
In the center patio, a Valencian pilota game organized by the Physical Education department took place.
