The National Police has carried out the dismantling of an illegal marijuana plantation that operated in a chalet located in Dénia. The investigation, led by the Investigation Group of the city's National Police Station, began as a result of a disproportionate consumption of electrical energy in the home, which caught the attention of the authorities.

The monitoring carried out revealed the existence of an illegal connection of electricity on the property, which further increased the consumption recorded by the legitimate meter. Although the movement of people in the home was not high, the high electricity consumption did not correspond to the usual activity of the place.

Thanks to the collaboration of the Prevention and Reaction Unit of the National Police Station in Benidorm, specialized in entries and searches of this type, the entry and search of the chalet was carried out with the corresponding judicial authorization.

During the operation, more than 21 kilograms of marijuana buds ready for distribution, 189 growing plants and an additional 45 kilograms of marijuana leaf were seized. Additionally, all equipment used to grow marijuana indoors was seized, including scales, sodium vapor lamps, fans, and air conditioning systems.

Two men, both 33 years old, were arrested at the scene and face charges of drug trafficking and electricity fraud. Both individuals were placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court acting as the Dénia Guard.

According to the standards established by the National Central Narcotics Office, the value of the drugs seized on the illegal market could amount to almost 46 thousand euros.
