The City Council of Dénia expresses its solidarity with those who suffer Fibromyalgia

May 14 from 2018 - 15: 55

The City of Denia has hosted this Monday morning the institutional event of the World Day of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the so-called "silent disease" that affects numerous people, especially women, in our region.

A representative of the Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Association of the Marina Alta (AFIMA) has made the authorities and society in general participate in their day-to-day life by reading a manifesto in which they request "respect in all areas of society" for those who suffer from this disease.

Ana Pacheco has been responsible for reading this manifesto, which recognizes that the helplessness of those with fibromyalgia "has been declining" for institutional support and society, but still "there is a long and narrow road to go".

Those affected say that the disease and the sick "they have no nationality", so they ask that there be no difference between autonomous communities and be guaranteed "universal access of patients to the public health system". In addition, patients want to be "stewards" of your health "participating in the planning of health and social policies" and publicly acknowledge those who fight alongside them.

The Councilor for Health and Social Welfare, Cristina Morera, has expressed its support and that of the City Council to those affected, recognizing that "Much remains to be done and I believe that together we can improve the quality of life of those who suffer from it and have their rights recognized.".

The event was chaired by the Mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and the councilors have attended Vicent Crespo y Rafa Carrió.
