The Dénia City Council puts out to tender the renovation works of sidewalks and paving of streets and roads in the city

02 2024 April - 16: 16

The Government Board of Dénia last week approved putting out to tender the sidewalk renovation works on Montgó Avenue and Senija, Setla, Amparo Merle and Verger streets to improve their current state as well as their accessibility. Interested companies have until April 17 to present their offers.

The project is included in the call for subsidies for Infrastructure and Assistance to Municipalities, Plan +Cerca 2023, of the Alicante Provincial Council. Its global tender budget is 221.319,06 euros (VAT included) and the execution period for the works is set at 3 months.

According to the project report, the current sidewalks have deteriorated and fragmented curbs, and even non-existent in some points, which are of different typology and age. There are also pavements raised by the presence of trees and fragmented and loose hydraulic tiles.

The works to be carried out aim to renew the pavement to also increase the width of the sidewalks on those streets where possible; create 'ears' at intersections to improve pedestrian safety and prevent illegal parking; improve accessibility at pedestrian crossings; adapt the width of the in-line parking lot, currently deficient, to 2,20 meters, make a new drainage according to the new sidewalks and plant trees on them with their corresponding irrigation network.

Asphalting in Cándida Carbonell and roads in Santa Paula

The Government Board held last week also approved putting out to tender the asphalting works on Cándida Carbonell Street, in the urban centre, and Camí del Saladar and Camí Partida Vessanes, in the Santa Paula area, all included in the Municipal Asphalt Plan 2023. The global tender budget, VAT included, amounts to 92.349 euros and the deadline for submitting offers ends on April 15, 2024.

In the Santa Paula area, two roads will be repaired that have the pavement in quite poor condition, with numerous sinkholes, most of them due to the passage of time and the traffic load.

On the one hand, the Camí del Saladar, widely used to leave the urban area in the direction of the industrial estate. Currently, its pavement is in poor condition due, fundamentally, to the excessive traffic load and also to the defective paving of some supply ditches, as indicated in the project report.

The Camí departure Vessanes, for its part, has very deteriorated pavement due to its low quality and the little maintenance carried out on the road.

Both roads have lateral areas with vegetation, which will be removed prior to the paving tasks and transported to an authorized landfill.

On the Camí del Saladar, in response to a neighborhood request that arose at the Paris-Camp Roig neighborhood meeting, four donkey-back type speed bumps will be distributed.

As for Cándida Carbonell Street, a little over a year ago some work was carried out to expand and renovate the sidewalk located next to the Maristas school, but the pavement of the road has not been repaved for years and is deteriorated, so that this action has been included in this asphalting plan.

The estimated execution time for these works is two weeks.

Attention residents of the future works of this City Council, how the works begin, who knows if by 2026... yes ..2026 it is already completed.
These are the customs of this City Council that is so progressive. They only do well by putting up colored flags and little lights.

  4. Joseph says:

The streets of Denia and the roads of the urbanizations are a shame for a touristy and curme town. Holes and bushes decorate the busy roads and streets. In addition, roads in poor condition pose a danger to users.
I know it, those responsible also know it. But …

Talking about contracts and execution deadlines for works in Dénia is laughable.
An example is the Marqués de Campo site, the “unfinished and sloppy” Glorieta, the walls of the Castle or the Camí de la Bota.
As long as this Urban Planning with its “intelligence and good work” is still there, protected by Grimalt, we have nothing to do but watch how they open streets, start works and drag them on half-finished.
A deplorable image and disastrous management.

  6. Raul says:

By the time Elche Street, they have been saying since October 2023 that they are going to start the works.

    All lies.
