The ancient cobblestones of the Plaza del Ayuntamiento now decorates the planters of the area

03 October 2016 - 00: 30

Since mid-September, alcorques and planters of the Town Hall Square are changing their physiognomy. This summer the City Council removed the artificial turf from the remodeling of the square in 2011, decorated the gardens, and for a couple of weeks working on installing a new decor.

This is a more rustic decor that comes from the history of the square: the cobblestones until remodeling were part of that very particular pavement. Now, these old pieces are being placed in boxes with a key objective, avoid dirt and odors generated by the artificial turf.

As explained by the Councilor for Parks and Gardens, Josep Crespo, this measure has been taken to respond to the requests of the neighbors, who especially complained about the smell of canine urine generated by the old lawn. The councilor explained that the Aehtma hoteliers association supported this request due to a health issue.
