Dénia proposes to rename the regional hospital as 'Hospital Torrent Guasp'

The City of Denia approved on Thursday, during the plenary corresponding to the month of April, a motion of urgency by means of which they will request to the Consellería de Sanidad that the local hospital is baptized like "Torrent Guasp Hospital"In honor of the cardiologist Francisco Torrent Guasp.

It is not the first time that this baptism is proposed. Already in 2005, after the death of the prestigious cardiologist, the City Council agreed to request it from the same agency, but the request was frozen and the procedures were never mobilized for the hospital to take its name. This was recalled by the Councilor for Health, Cristina Morera, who explained that with this motion, similar to the one approved twelve years ago, they expect the new Regional Ministry to take it into account and accede to the request.

For his part, Rafa Carrió recalled that this same motion is going through the full 33 municipalities of the region to demonstrate to the Generalitat Valenciana that Marina Alta really wants to pay tribute to Torrent Guasp.

Dr. Paco Torrent Guaps was born in Gandia in 1931 and 2005 died in Madrid. His work as a cardiologist research focused on the anatomy and function of the heart. Their search led to the discovery and description of the ventricular myocardial band. Their findings have been included in reference books of anatomy and surgery.
