Dénia will study to incorporate emergency professionals in the next local security meetings

The City of Dénia, following the recommendations launched by the Generalitat Valenciana, will incorporate professional emergency entities in local security boards such as Civil Protection, Red Cross or Social Services with the aim of working at a transversal level in case of emergency situations .

The councilor of citizen security, Javier Scotto, explained to Dénia.com that they have received this week the letter of the Generalitat and considers it important to be able to incorporate municipal technicians and connoisseurs of emergencies in the local security boards. Currently the City Council convenes these meetings once a year, and in the coming weeks they will meet again.

The president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, during the technical office of the local police of the past 31 of August, already highlighted the importance of «colaboración y cooperación», and that each municipality prepare work plans to specify formulas for relations with the Muslim community and coordination with social and youth services. Puig urged the consistories to draw up a map of potential risks in their municipal area and recommended holding quarterly local safety meetings related to this matter.

The general director of the Agency of Security and Emergencies, José María Ángel, explained that the consequences of a terrorist act «entran en el ámbito de las emergencias y la protección civil por lo que es conveniente que, desde el planteamiento, el plan de trabajo de las fuerzas de seguridad que actúan en un municipio contemple la respuesta que deberían dar los profesionales involucrados en la protección civil ante un atentado terrorista».

Ángel has insisted on the importance of putting on the table the resources and the capacities of the different municipal departments that should give an answer in said case «ya sea protección civil, servicios sociales o Cruz Roja, para que el plan de prevención del terrorismo sea lo más eficaz posible».
