Dénia calls on the foreign population to register and achieve its goal: 50.000 inhabitants

January 18 from 2024 - 12: 06

It seems like a mere figure, but crossing the 50.000 barrier means too many benefits for Dénia not to think about it. Entering the exclusive list of cities with more than 50.000 inhabitants directly translates into economic privileges and services that are not currently enjoyed. And to reach the desired figure it is not necessary to look outside the city to attract inhabitants, but rather the percentage that is missing for the sum to be "hidden" in its neighborhoods.

There has always been a great variation between the statistical information from the registry of inhabitants of Dénia and the figure from the National Statistics Institute. Without going any further, while the latest INE data for 2023 is given to the capital of the Marina Alta a population of 45.893 inhabitants, more than 49.000 appear in the Dénia registry (49.047, specifically). This dance of figures corresponds, according to the City Council, to the foreign population that resides in the city but is not registered.

In order to achieve greater registration of these residents, the Dénia City Council has started a campaign to inform about the advantages of taking this step. According to the area councilor in the presentation, Marta Gasco, who was accompanied by the director of the OAC, Nela Viciano, and the councilor in charge of international relations, Raúl García de la Reina, the fact of not being registered means the loss of access to countless aid, participation in actions such as the Consumption Bonus or in services such as Senior Classes. In addition to the obstacles involved in wanting to access healthcare without having an assigned doctor or attracting relatives from abroad to live together in Dénia, whose procedures become complicated.

But if this registration can be urgent for something, in addition to everything mentioned, it is because of the imminent European elections that will be held this year. In order to participate, the situation must be regulated before January 30.

The benefits of being a city of 50.000 inhabitants

All of the public services of a municipality depend on the numbers of inhabitants, which is why the City Council insists on regulating these numbers so that practically all of the residents are reflected. This will allow the ratios of educational schools, health schools, security forces agents, social workers... even in the face of cleaning and garbage collection specifications, to adjust to real needs and demands. That is to say, now there are services intended for a population of 45.000 inhabitants when the real figure exceeds 49.000.

But why does it also matter to exceed 50.000? If the registry were increased and reached 50.000 inhabitants, Dénia would obtain the benefits of belonging to a select group in which there are only 151 municipalities in all of Spain: that of cities with more than 50.000 inhabitants. It is, as we said before, more than a number. The aid for these municipalities is much greater at the fiscal level, benefits are obtained in terms of taxes from the central government and services are greatly increased. The discrimination between those cities that have more or less than 50.000 inhabitants is immense.

For this reason, the City Council's objective now is to exceed 50.000 inhabitants, which could be almost taken for granted if all unregistered residents of the city were registered.

How to register in Dénia?

Registration in the municipal registry must be done from the OAC, but it is necessary to make an appointment in advance by phone or through the email

I see a lot of offended people but I will remember that after the elections they are the same again. So they're not doing so bad, right? Or at least the vast majority think the management is good.
We must understand that our decision lies in the vote, and not only here, but throughout Spain.
I have to say that I would never vote for those who are there, that I think they do a pretty bad job and don't let anyone tell me that all politicians are the same and that this is not a tropical country.
Next time when you go to vote, think about it. While swallowing.
    A greeting.

The only thing they want is to scrape more money from the State.

  3. Omniway says:

    Gentlemen of Denia.com:
Could you please publish a detailed report of all those advantages in a more technical and less enthusiastic way so that we can know exactly those advantages?

  4. Ines says:

Before going beyond 50.000 they should try to retain the young population that all they do is leave a town that has no future unless you work in the service sector and that is also questionable why when this comes to coming to Denia for the sun and the beach stops being fashionable, we are clear about it, the only ones who would register would be a population of over 60, what a panorama

  5. Javi says:

And to shoehorn in the 2030 agenda, you also progress with the low-emission ZBE zone for 4 streets that Denia has and you cannot access it with your vehicle... Ready, very smart, are these progressives who only want progressivism for their pocket and control lives of the staff.

    • Omniway says:

      For here are the shots.
If Dénia had to become famous for what it is now, it would not be possible. I liked it better when we had 15.000 inhabitants.

  6. Pere says:

The comments are of an impressive level and the nonsense that most Nobel Prize winners spout.

  7. Maria says:

Phew!! I don't understand anything anymore...... this is real? And then...will we celebrate it too? Thank goodness we still have free thought.

  8. It says:

People who live in Denia without being registered in Denia, without paying Denia taxes (one of the highest in Spain, IBI, Garbage, IVTM,...) with the Denia Services (Of the worst in Spain, health, transport, Housing , education...), smart people, of course if I had another home somewhere else I would NOT be registered in Denia.
Another nonsense of our progress looking at its own interest without worrying about its town and its people.
    That's how it goes

    • Martha says:

      Hello
As if it were so easy to register
Most of us who live rented in a room do not have registration because either the owner does not do it and neither does the person who has the rental contract.
And something very common is that people who can demonstrate an income of more than 2400 euros get the apartments for around 700 euros per month and rent the rooms for 450 and 500 euros, and they also do not register.

    • Aldebaran says:

Paying garbage or IBI is independent of whether or not you are registered. If you own a house, for example as a second residence, you pay them the same.

    • Grimalt says:

The select group of 50.000, as the City Council calls it, is nothing more than a cheap slogan. Have more workers and meet the needs of a city of 50.000 inhabitants, if it currently has more than 500 officials, who scratch their balls,... That we have to make an appointment for X management is funny, several times we have gone with and without an appointment, on both occasions there are more officials seated than citizens wanting to be attended to. More security means more police officers, so. If when you call them they do not appear. In 2005 there were 85 agents, now there are almost 100 agents. The city is unlucky to have leaders in charge who are in favor of the macabre 20shit agenda. The solution, fewer politicians, more workers with a sense of patriotism and idiosyncrasy to Dénia. The 20shit agenda, one of so much destruction is the mixture of cultures, (have you noticed an increase in Islamic nationality lately?) they have financial aid, housing, food, etc... While the Spanish residents do not have ANY HELP. That allows them to divide who… The virus of politics.

  9. Lluis says:

    But what botch is this????

  10. Jopelin says:

Don't pay any attention. It's to have more neighbors and collect more taxes.
Services?...we'll see. We will promise them again in the next elections

  11. izrail says:

    progress

  12. izrail says:

And in addition, the Low Emission Zones rule would come into force, another help to the citizens of our beloved progressive.

  13. Pau (FR) says:

Entire families sharing apartments because there is not enough housing for each one to have an affordable rent, children's classes in schools increasing ratios beyond what is reasonable so that everyone can enter, Health Center without appointments because they cannot cope, Hospital where there are beds in the hallways to be able to serve everyone, we don't even talk about poor garbage collection, lack of public parking due to lack of space and so on we could continue.
So if we exceed 50.000 inhabitants, are we going to have better services than now that there are fewer of us and we DO NOT have them?
Do these people really believe the nonsense and nonsense they spout?
