The role of the city of Denia and its geographical elements during wartime history will be the subject of a lecture series organized by the Department of Culture in collaboration with the Association of veterans and reservists from the city. And all thanks to obtaining a grant of EUR 4.000 the Ministry of Defense for its realization.
The cycle Dénia defense in wartime It will take place between June and November 2016 and will be based in La Sala del Castell. Although not yet closed the list of speakers, yes we know the subject areas to be addressed. Among them, the pulse Dénia Sertorio during the war against Rome (80-70 years BC), where the city played a prominent host the fleet Sertorio paper; the role of Montgó as a watchtower and control of the coast during the Romanization and archaeological traces to link to the existing war in Roman Dianium.
They will also discuss the conquest of Mujahid, Emir of Denia, the Balearic and Pitiusas and their foray into the island of Sardinia in the spring of 1016; the war of the two Peres (XIV century); the time of Dénia base four armed galleys in the seventeenth century; the traces of the Wars of Succession and Independence and architectures of the Spanish Civil War.
The municipal archaeologist Josep Antoni Gisbert, explained during the presentation of the conferences that bring together the nation's leading experts on the subject. This lecture series is part of a larger project that also includes publishing a thematic guide, specific signage, small works of rehabilitation and documentation work that the city hopes to develop in successive years opting to this line of support of the Ministry of Defense .
