Dénia, among the three Alicante municipalities that currently build the most housing

May 01 from 2023 - 09: 00

Dénia is among the three municipalities in the province of Alicante that are currently building the most homes. This has been reported by the president of the Official College of Quantity Surveyors, Technical Architects and Building Engineers of Alicante, Carlos Casas, after analyzing the numbers of visas for homes started in the first quarter of 2023.

According to the data, construction in the province of Alacant has started the year with figures "that we can describe as excellent", commented the president of COAATIEA. The growth has meant an increase of 12% in the number of housing starts in the last 12 months, which indicates a recovery after the effects of the pandemic, the war in Ukraine and the rise in inflation.

Regarding the geographical distribution, the regions have behaved unevenly during this quarter, with Vega Baja and Las Marinas being the leaders in activity. La Vega Baja continues to be the area with the highest volume, with 44% of the total for the province, and continues the growth trend that started in the third quarter of 2021. For its part, Las Marinas is the other area that stands out for its growth in this period of time, increasing its activity in percentages even higher than those of Vega Baja and positioning itself as the second area with the highest activity with 36% of housing starts in the province.

However, the most outstanding is the situation of Dénia, which is among the three municipalities that currently build the most homes, only behind Oriola and Benidorm. In total, in the capital of the Marina Alta 173 homes have been started according to COAATIEA data, and all despite the lack of a General Structural Plan.

These “homes are for the rich, not affordable for working people and will only be used one month out of twelve. Already 80% of houses remain empty for eleven months of the year!

Again? Housing which housing? It is built to speculate touristically. Housing….I wish it were!

    Waste of land.
There are many empty apartments and squats to give them to.
This should be the first thing that the new Housing law would have to regulate.
In addition, it should be built according to the occupation of the house. And not waste land.
Let's hope that now with the bump that Sánchez is going to take in this month's elections, he will change and wake up.
