Dénia cries out for a life free of violence and fear: there are already 52 murdered in 2023, 15 more than a year ago

November 24 from 2023 - 15: 08

This afternoon the reading of the manifesto for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was held in the Plaza del Consell de Dénia. A document prepared and read by the Councilor for Equality, Javier Scotto, and students from the La Xara school and the Maria Ibars secondary education institute, agreed upon by the people who make up the Consell de les Dones de Dénia.

Words of rejection towards all forms of violence, especially gender violence; and references to the fight, "for you, for me, for everyone"; to unity, "because gender violence is an issue that affects everyone, regardless of age or gender"; and a life "free of violence" and "free of fear", in which women live "the right of their freedom: free to be, to develop, think, love, train, move, grow and even dream. "May machismo never cut short your dreams," it was expressed in the manifesto.

The Councilor for Equality has highlighted the motto of this year's 25N campaign, "historical, together and free", with which "we remember women in the continuous fight against gender violence through the feminist movement and that together we can make it".

Machismo, according to Scotto, "is a men's problem that women suffer from." The councilor had words of remembrance for the women murdered in 2023; There are 52, 15 more than last year at this time.

He also reminded the numerous adolescents and young people who attended the event that "it is not easy to end gender violence, but your parents, protections, teachers and tutors; and also the city council, the associations and the police are at your side to stop violence, we are at your side, at the side of equality between women and men.

After reading the manifesto, the Marea Danza company performed the contemporary folklore show Stem, award for best street show at the Valencian Performing Arts Awards (2021) and with two nominations for the Max Awards (2022), best street show and best soundtrack.

If there were 37 last year and 52 this year, the increase is 40,54%, an outrage that indicates that something is failing miserably in the protection policies implemented, perhaps those responsible should explain it to us and recognize that they are not doing something right. .

How feminist, queer and everything the progressive posturings are, with their enormous budgets (which we pay for) and their extremely indignant poses...they have managed to increase sexist murders by 25%. But surely they are not demonstrating to protest.
