Like every LGTBI+ Pride Day, the Dénia City Council has gone out to the Plaza de la Constitució to show its support for the group, stand up against hate and demand equality and diversity.
In a context in which several Valencian town halls have turned their backs on the celebration after the formation of new governments, the one in Dénia resists by taking out their colors. Specifically the colors of the rainbow, which have been dressing the facade of the consistory for weeks.
The area councilor, Javier Scotto, has read the manifesto accompanied by representatives of the local government, as well as members of the municipal groups of the PP and Gent of Dénia. This year his words were addressed to the new coalitions that "question again" the rights of LGTBI + people. "The Pride of Dénia is a march against exclusion and populism," said Scotto, stressing that it is a celebration "to recover memory and activism, because we have fought a lot and it has cost us a lot, even our lives."
"We are proud to be what we are." The councilor pointed out that "everything that deviates from the norm is dangerous for hate speech" and has encouraged other movements for equality, feminists, migrants, and any other group that suffers discrimination, to join : «Your cause against discrimination is our cause. If we unite, we are all left alone."

Who will be left alone? The rest of the hetero population? These types of slogans imply exclusion of a part of the population.
Completely agree. There is a whiff of exclusion and hatred in that slogan that if we unite we will all be left alone. Not long ago, it seems, they were the ones who were alone. And, also, think that among your ranks you have many upstart homophobes, as always happens.
And can we heteros feel proud of being so or do we start to be weirdos?
