01 December 2023 - 10: 20

In the recent ordinary session of the Dénia City Council, held on Thursday, the technical report prepared by the Department of Territory regarding the consultation carried out by the Verger City Council was unanimously approved. The consultation, dated November 24, concerned a specific amendment to subsidiary regulations on the former Safari Park plot.

The Verger City Council seeks to modify its planning in the area of the aforementioned plot to achieve compatibility between the tertiary use of the land and its classification as protected non-developable land.

The total area of the plot is 319.212 m2, distributed between the municipalities of Dénia (102.044 m2) and El Verger (217.168 m2). The portion located in Dénia is categorized as non-developable land of natural protection in the humid area, as established in the General Structural Plan of Dénia, approved in the extraordinary plenary session of May 4, 2023 and published in the Alicante BOP No. 97 on May 22, 2023.

After the evaluation of the relevant regulations, feasibility studies and technical reports, carried out by the municipal architect and the head of the Planning, Management, Rehabilitation and Infrastructure service of the Dénia City Council, the Councilor for Territory, María Josep Ripoll, declared: « At no time has the report been unfavorable, but the plot corresponding to Dénia is located in a protected area, such as the Marjal de Pego, with landscapes of high ecological value and with a high risk of flooding. The unanimity in approval reflects the plenary's support for the technical conclusion presented.

Let's hope nothing happens in the marsh, many people from Marina Alta and Safor really enjoyed it there. Thank you and greetings.

It is amazing how easily and with a couple of hands up, a protected land/land with environmental value within a protected area or in danger of flooding, can be converted into developable land/land, if someone shows up with a wad of cash.
