Brigands and caciques revived in our region through the book of Manel Arcos

30 October 2015 - 17: 14

The history of the Marina Alta has many protagonists, each of them occupying a more or less visible place at some point. In the second half of the nineteenth century, ties of kinship and friendship among the elites, which moved the threads of political power, administration and justice, took on special importance in the reality of everyday life.

Those relations compared with the current world are the protagonists Conflicte d'interessos: Bandolerisme i vendetta at the Marina Alta in temps de cacics (1844-1875), the book with which Manel Arcos ends his saga on banditry.

Dedicated to Professor Manuel Ardit, it presents the conclusions on banditry and caciquismo in the mid-nineteenth century. The author presented it last Thursday at the Baix la Mar Reading Agency, in an act for which he had the music of the singer-songwriter Rubén Suárez and his partner Tina, who set poems by Maria Dolors Pellicer to music; and also with the presence of the culture councilor of the Dénia City Council, Rafa Carrió.

Conflicte d'interessos: Bandolerisme i vendetta at the Marina Alta in temps de cacics (1844-1875) can be purchased already in the bookstores of the city.
