Students of the Municipal School of Base Dénia Soccer will pass sports cardiological recognitions

May 05 from 2018 - 06: 45

The Municipal School of Base Soccer Dénia will carry out a great initiative with the objective of preventing the sudden death in the base sport. The statistics in recent years has raised the alarm, one person dies every three days for sudden death, the 80% of the deceased had never had any symptoms.

120 students will be the ones who next 7 in May will pass the sport cardiological recognition (RCD) to prevent sudden cardiac death (MSC), which is carried out by the company Sport Pulse. The recognitions will be carried out in the facilities of the Rodat field.

Extensive exploration of the players

Sport Pulse moves your entire medical team to the training place for athletes for a whole day. There the RCD is performed with its four phases: a questionnaire about personal and family history, a cardiovascular physical examination, an 12 electrocardiogram, derivations and finally an electrocardiographic effort monitoring to see how the heart responds during sports practice.

The only requirements to pass a RCD of Sport Pulse in the base sport are to be older than 10 years, to have the permission of the parents and 50 euros which is the cost of the test. Once the athlete has made the RCD, the collected data are analyzed by a team of cardiologists who issue a final report and sent to the stakeholders in a completely confidential manner.

With this recognition, most of the congenital or genetic heart diseases that are the main cause of this type of death in children under 35 can be detected. According to the 1 data of each 300 athletes who undergoes the tests can develop a lethal ailment that could lead to sudden cardiac death 1 of each 100 a slight ailment.

Increase in Sudden Cardiac Death

The increase in the incidence of sudden death in our society is due to the increase in the number of people who practice sports with intensity. The Spanish legislation does not yet establish as mandatory the recognitions to be able to compete. Only some federations require a medical examination to issue the federal license. In this way, the basic sports practices that are practiced in clubs, schools, or municipalities, and that have younger athletes among their ranks, are left out. A circumstance that leaves a large number of players without coverage if we stick to data such as that the 40% of those killed by MSC had less than 18 years.

Sport Pulse, committed to the practice of safe sport, was born with the aim of covering that space. "The company aspires that all athletes who practice intense exercise are cardioprotected regardless of the category, the discipline they practice, the age, the club, town or school in which they work.", Explained Paco Chacón, CEO of Sport Pulse.
