17 September 2019 - 11: 25

"I'll be back in 5 minutes", "I am working and I have to download" o "And I can't have a booth too?" These are just some of the comments that, on a daily basis, people with reduced mobility must support when they occupy the parking spaces reserved for them. To celebrate the European Mobility Week, the City Council has decided to change the tables and make the offenders live in their flesh what they endure.

City Hall, local police and several associations present the new mobility campaign

This morning the Councilor for Citizen Protection and Equality and Diversity, Javier Scotto, together with the police and representatives of the Ludai associations, Condemned to the curb and Raquel Payà, presented the new awareness campaign that seeks to achieve respect for the reserved areas for people with reduced mobility to park, as well as crosswalks and adapted access ramps. With this "180º turn" They want to address offenders. How? Occupying until the weekend 12 parking spaces of Marqués de Campo, the main commercial artery of Dénia, with wheelchairs that will wear many of these typical excuses.

Awareness campaign on adapted places

Every day, according to the associations, they have to deal with these infractions and their unfortunate comments. Now, with the campaign, the City Council wants to generate debate, see the reaction of citizens and call for reflection, since "chairs do not impede mobility, but infractions".
