The summer season of 2021 looks very similar to the previous one, but at the same time with great differences. The pandemic is still present, but it is also true that the advance in vaccination and the current incidence allow to recover part of the normality preCOVID.

At that intermediate point is the situation of the beaches this summer in Dénia.

The beaches of Dénia are already ready for the new tourist season. Summer 2021 "will still be a summer marked by the pandemic," recalled the Beaches councilor, Pepe Doménech. For this reason, the COVID-19 prevention measures are reissued: a furrow will be opened every day 5 m from the coastline to delimit the promenade area; Signs will be placed explaining the measures and information on the maximum capacity that must be respected on the beaches with the greatest influx (the urban ones of Punta del Raset and Marineta Cassiana and the coves of les Rotes); and COVID informants from the Generalitat will once again tour the Denier coast to advise bathers.

On the other hand, among the services that are being recovered, thanks to the better conditions in the current sanitary context, the footbaths will be put into operation again (those that depend on the city council are already in operation) and all access to the beaches will have a walkway.

And, as a novelty, a fourth beach accessible for people with functional diversity, in les Marines, joins those of Bovetes, Punta del Raset and Marineta; with amphibious chairs and bathroom assisted by Red Cross staff from July 1 to August 31, from 11 a.m. to 19 p.m. (in Raset, from June 15).

To this improvement in terms of accessibility are also added six adapted toilets, measuring 6 square meters, in the same locations of the xiringuitos and accessible beaches; of the total of twelve that will be available to users of the beaches of Dénia.

In the conditioning of the beaches for this summer 2021, € 80.000 has been invested in different repair and improvement actions, some demanded by regular users, such as the installation of a railing at the Punta Negra sea access. In Les Rotes, the pavement has also been patched and 15 accesses will soon be signposted from the Les Rotes road and two ramps, removable in winter, will be placed in Marge Roig. In les Marines, among other actions, the rusted scales of the second regatxo have been knocked down. And along the coastline, beachgoers will be able to find 39 new panels, with information on behavior, blue flags and environmental.

"The effort made on the beaches is a year-round effort, which adapts to the circumstances of each season, to keep them clean, but also environmentally sustainable", which is why Dénia has once again revalidated the six Blue Flags for the Bovetes, the Dehesas, the Marines, the Marineta Cassiana, the Molins and the Punta del Raset.

Surveillance and first aid

As for the Red Cross surveillance device on the beaches of Dénia, on Saturday June 5 it will enter service. Until September 26, "a hundred lifeguards will cover the coastline: 24, daily, in medium season (June and September), and 57 on the beach every day in July and August."
The service hours are also adapted to the peculiarities of each season: from 11 a.m. to 19 p.m., in June and September, and from 11.30 a.m. to 20 p.m., in July and August.

The human resources of the Red Cross have the material reinforcement of a health post on each beach, watchtowers to Los Molins, les Marines and les Rotes, 28 surveillance chairs, an ICU ambulance, two jets skis, three quads, three boats rescue, a kayak and three bicycles.

In addition, Doménech stressed, "with the increase this year in the staff of the Local Police, we will have available for the surveillance of the beaches a quad for the Marines, two agents for the Eructations and a boat that will patrol the entire coast."

Cleaning and environmental protection

From the beach cleaning concession company, 25 workers will be in charge of the daily tune-up from June 15. To the new machinery acquired last summer (a tractor and a mixed shovel) this year a specific accessory is added to screen and collect the stones.

For operations in areas that require special work or manual cleaning, the contract includes 14 Fridays of work at les Rotes and around the Girona river.

As usual, from the beginning of the tourist season, the cleaning service is provided at night, from midnight to early morning, advancing the machinery in two directions: north and south, until the two sections of coast are covered. complete.

Cleaning is combined with environmental protection by means of regeneration measures for the dune cord, marked and signposted in Dehesas, Molins, Albaranes and the LIC (Site of Community Importance) area of les Rotes.

Dog-friendly and smoke-free beaches

The dog beach is maintained in the north breakwater area. In this regard, the Beaches councilor recalled that "since June 1 the presence of dogs is prohibited on all beaches, including urban ones," except in this specific point.

And to Marineta Cassiana, in Marge Roig, users can now enjoy the smoke-free beach, "700 meters of tobacco-free sandy beach", thanks to the adhesion of the Dénia City Council, last summer, on the network Valencian promoted by the General Directorate of Public Health of the Generalitat and the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
