International Volunteers assist in removing invasive plants in the dunes of Les Deveses

NGO volunteers Voluns Spain came from Australia, USA, New Zealand, Canada, Germany and Lebanon are these days in Dénia collaborating in removing invasive plants that threaten the dunes in the area of ​​Les Deveses.

This is the two-year campaign for the sequential removal of these plants carried out by the Department of Environment to meet the environmental management system ISO 14 001 and has oversight of municipal technicians.

These young people between 18 and 25 years working on it four hours a day and spend the rest of the day to learn languages ​​and enjoy activities at sea and in the Natural Park of Montgo coordinated by ACIF.

The volunteers are responsible for removing the aerial parts and rhizomes of the invasive plants, loading them and transferring them to the municipal composting plant. It is expected that during this campaign some 25 sacks of the species will be collected Carporotus edulis (cat's claw) with a weight of 500 kilos of wet material.

This project will last a maximum of eight weeks and aims to minimize the environmental impact and achieve an educational and supportive purpose. The association collaborates with the project Marfull in awareness among owners of beachfront sufferers.
