Dénia has chosen one of the emblems of her gastronomic identity, the red shrimp, to star in the cover that has represented our destiny in the institutional presentation of World Tapa Day. The event, which is organized by the Saborea España association, usually takes place in June, but this year, due to the health crisis, it has been postponed for a few weeks and is being held today, July 23.
The telematic presentation has connected all Saborea Spain destinations in a virtual event chaired by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Fernando Valdés. The meeting, in which each Saborea destination has presented a characteristic cover of its area, has served to highlight and claim the relevance of tapas and tapas as differential elements of gastronomy and Spanish society.
The Dénia tapa, a combination of Dénia red shrimp with gazpacho and tomato ice cream, has been prepared by chef Fernando González.
On the other hand, Dénia has joined this ninth edition of World Tapa Day by organizing a tapas route from July 20 to 23, in which 25 member establishments of the Association of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of the Marina Alta ( Aehtma). The participating venues have offered their clientele a cover designed to participate in this route, accompanied by cane, glass of wine or vermouth, at a promotional price of 3 euros.
