"All tied up and well tied up"

16 March 2023 - 11: 54

The elections arrive and everything is announcements of tenders to be executed beyond May 28. Some reasonable doubts arise from seeing this frenzy, as well as leaving us with a certain aftertaste at the end of the dictatorship when they claimed to leave everything tied up and very tied up.

Is it the inheritance that they leave to the next government team or are they sure that they will be the executors? In any case, they have not consulted their projects with any other formation. We will see what happens if on May 29 they find themselves out of the mayor's office or having to seek support to govern. Everything is possible in a democracy, fortunately.

We will focus on the tender for the Festive Museum. Located in the current Pou de la Muntanya Infant School next to the Rodat field on Avenida de Alicante.

No doubt it is convenient to have a place for our traditions. It will be interesting to see the statistics of visits from individuals that the Ninot exhibition that has been presented these days at the Casa Valero de Palma on Cavallers street has received. We are told that interested associations are enthusiastic about the possibility of having a museum of their own and that there are no alternative locations. Are there really not? The City Museum has three floors, couldn't you occupy one of them permanently? The old library of the house of culture?

From Ciudadanos we want to invite reflection, common sense. The academic definition of a museum speaks of a place where cultural heritage, of whatever kind, is preserved and exhibited. At street level, it is an element that the local population sometimes goes to and returns when they have their cousin on duty visiting and they want to teach him something other than sun, beach and restaurants. It does not seem that it is essential to place it in one of the few central buildings, with trees and even a playground that remain in Dénia.

Have you also asked the residents of Avenida de Alicante and its surroundings? Have alternative uses been proposed for such a significant and central building?

Ciudadanos proposes a much more social use and linked to the daily life of the Dianenses. Make a Recreation Center for the residents of the area. Where young and old can live together, play, communicate, be outdoors and learn from each other. See movies, theater, puppets.

A use in which we all enter, without of course leaving aside our culture and our traditions, which without a doubt need a space, their space. In a living Museum, where visitors and neighbors can go, and what they see is explained to them, the number of visits received by the exhibition is not simply counted.
