Sergio Alberola and Luis Hortigüela concluded Ironman Maastricht
The Ironman of Maastricht was celebrated in Dutch lands, and there were two dianenses triathletes, Sergio Alberola and Luis Antonio Hortigüela. A complicated adventure ahead to perform, but faced with much preparation and especially optimism to be able to conclude it.
A test of this nature is always very hard to be what are the conditions under which it is performed are. In the starting position a large number of participants, who were able to conclude the race total 896 triathletes.
The first segment swimming 3.800 meters, was held at the Maas river, a stretch in which Alberola spent time 56 13 minutes and seconds. While it did in 1 Hortigüela hour, 15 minutes.
On the second bike segment participants had to go 182 kilometers, discoursed by beautiful landscapes, a circuit which got two laps. Many of the sections of this segment are classic racing tour the UCI calendar.
On the bicycle, Sergio Alberola clocked 5 hours, minutes 56 31 seconds, while teammate used time 6 hours, minutes 40 52 seconds.
In the last segment, race walk, on a plot of 42.200 meters, in an ever ascending path that ended in the Market Square, opposite the Town Hall, in the historic center of Maastricht.
Alberola performed the marathon distance with a mark 3 hours, minutes 59 52 seconds while Luis Antonio Hortigüela did in 5 hours and minutes 23 49 seconds.
The total time for Sergio Alberola was 11 hours, 3 6 minutes and seconds, entered the post 214 in the overall standings. While Luis Antonio Hortigüela made a total time of 13 hours, 35 35 minutes and seconds.
The winner of the event was the Dutch, Bas Diederen with a time of 8 hours, 27 18 minutes and seconds. The second place went to Mark Oude, also Dutch, which came to more than 6 minutes behind the winner. The third place went to the Italian, Alberto Casadai that reached more than 10 minutes behind the winner of the test.
The first Spanish was Xavier Torrado who entered the seventh with a mark of 9 hours, minutes 2 1 second.
