This recognition, requested by the Plenary of the city council, highlights the work of local governments in the field of protection and guarantee of the rights of children and the implementation of public policies that have a tangible impact on their well-being. .

To be part of the Child Friendly Cities network, two requirements are requested, which Dénia meets. On the one hand, have a Local Council for Childhood and Adolescence, established in Dénia on December 9, 2019 with students from 5th and 6th grade of Primary schools. On the other, have a Childhood and Adolescence Plan, approved at the beginning of the year in Dénia with three main lines of action: making the city a friendly environment that contributes to the full development of children and adolescents; make Dénia an educating city; and place childhood at the center of municipal policies.
