Today is the first "normal" day of a new year. A 2019 that arrives with an important appointment in the month of May, the municipal elections, but also will also bring to Dénia the completion of important works and premieres of new spaces.
In the political section, 2019 could be a year of changes. On Sunday May 26 the municipal and regional elections will be held. In five months, the dianenses are called to the polls to give our confidence to the politicians who will govern us in the next four years. For the moment, Vicent Grimalt (PSPV-PSOE) has confirmed his candidacy; María Mut (PP) and Rafa Carrió (Compromís). The rest of the parties have not yet announced who will be their head of the list for this important event.
Leaving aside the appointment with the polls, 2019 will be the year in which several improved spaces are released in recent months. One of them is the new municipal library, on Calle San José, whose works have already been completed. As reported on the day of its inauguration, it is expected that by the end of January the building will have been furnished and that it will be possible to start moving all the material from the current location, in the Municipal House of Culture.
Another of the spaces that will open is the old fish market, and the future Museum of the Sea. As reported last December, after the Exposició del Ninot of the 2019 faults, scheduled for the end of February and early March, the space will be closed to become definitely the Museum of the Sea.
2019 will be the year in which we will see completed several of the works that are currently underway. Speaking of museums, some of those works are those of the Casa de la Marquesa Valero de Palma, which will become the Museum of History of the City of Dénia. The work, which began in September, has an estimated duration of eight months, so if everything goes well, before summer it will be finished.
To this work, financed by the Plan Confianza, we must add another important improvement: the remodeling of the Plaza Archduque Carlos. If everything goes according to plan, the old bus stop will have become a landscaped and pedestrian square in the month of February.
If we talk about "plans", there is another plan that is being noted in Dénia, the Edificant Plan. On the one hand, after the tender of the works of the new school of La Xara, in 2019 the construction of the new building will begin. On the other, 2019 will be the year in which the works of the new Raquel Payá are tendered, in the area of the Gandía road, near the municipal nurseries.
In short, a hopeful 2019 that will bring Dénia, if everything goes according to plan, important improvements that neighbors will enjoy.
