PSPV and Compromís raise their voices to claim the money Provincial Municipal Cooperation Fund

February 03 from 2017 - 17: 14

The decision of the Provincial Council of Alicante, governed by the popular Calpe's César Sánchez, not to participate in the Municipal Cooperation Fund launched by the Generalitat has indigando the mayors of the province of Alicante.

According to this fund, the Generalitat and the Provincial Councils should pay the same amount to the municipalities of the province, an amount stipulated objectively, depending on their inhabitants. This proposal, launched by the PP years ago, was picked up by the Ximo Puig government and approved by the Valencia and Castellón councils, but not by the Alicante Council.

This decision leaves the Marina Alta region without the more than 2.000.000 euros that correspond to it and that would allow each municipality to make investments freely. That is why representatives of PSPV and Compromís have demonstrated at the Dénia City Council to claim the money that should be sent to the Provincial Council, which in the case of the capital of the region amounts to 279.302 euros.

The deputy and mayor of Xàbia, the socialist José Chulvi, affirmed that this is "a difficult decision to understand"But that both his group and Compromís continue to work on the County Council to reclaim what belongs to the region.

For his part, the deputy of Compromís Gerard Fullana regretted that the money that corresponds to the Marina Alta in an objective way is going to go entirely, and nominally, to the municipality of Calp, governed by the president of the Diputación. In this regard, the deputy mayor of Dénia, Rafa Carrió, recalled that the money that is not distributed through this plan will be allocated "by finger" projects you choose the council.

Vicent Grimalt, mayor of Dénia, remarked that Dénia is marginalized in the subsidies of the Provincial Council, beyond those that it has to receive by law.

Denia PP defends the position of the Council

In a statement, the Dianense Popular Party has defended the decision of the Council not to participate in this Cooperation Fund. According to them, "If the Diputación agreed to participate in the cooperation fund, the money for works in Alicante municipalities would no longer be decided in Alicante, but in Valencia, and the taxes of Alicante, they would leave to provide services to large towns in other provinces of the Community".

The text recalls that "The Diputación fulfills its constitutional powers in a close, close, close and efficient way, of which the Government of Denia knows a lot, since it has received a large economic amount in aid".
