The 'Pacient Actiu' experience exchange program returns to the Marina Alta in May

Share experiences with others who suffer from the same chronic disease improves health and quality of life of those suffering from some kind of chronic ailment. With the aim of contacting all of them the program was launched in the Department of Health Dénia pacient ActiuA series of two-hour workshops and half hours which will resume in May in the Marina Alta.

For six consecutive weeks, the workshop attendees will increase knowledge in the care of their disease and improve their self-esteem through a participatory dynamic peer. In the past two years there have been workshops for adults with one or more chronic diseases or caregivers of a person with dependence, activity will continue in the coming months both in Dénia and other towns in the Marina Alta.

The beginning of the workshops was adopted at the Community Health Commission which was established this week at the Dénia Hospital. Present at the meeting were Cristina Morera, Councilor for Health of the Dénia City Council and representative of the Health Council; Pascual Martí, Director of the Dénia Public Health Center and Ana Morote, Director of Primary Care of the Dénia Health Department.

When assessing the results of the program pacient Actiu Xàvier Gómez took voice, Master Trainer concerning the program, along with Cristina Martínez, Dolores Pérez, María Remedios Ferrando and Vicente Javier Juan, responsible for implementing the program in the Department of Health of Dénia. Physicians also participated Maria Teresa and Maria Abad Gironés and nurse Cristóbal Llorens, all from the Public Health Center of Denia.
