Policlinico San Carlos joins the World No Snuff Day with measurement of oxygen saturation in the blood in Marqués de Campo

Tomorrow is World No Tobacco Day and San Carlos Polyclinic aims to raise awareness among dianenses about the harmful effects it produces. To do this, a team of experts will be deployed on Campos Street for oxygen measurements, samples of harmful results and anti-smoking gestures.

Free of charge for all passers-by who wish to be measured on Calle Marqués de Campo oxygen saturation in the blood. In addition, a Rx plate of a smoker and a non-smoker will be displayed, with the aim that the results can be compared. And as a symbolic gesture, San Carlos will also place an urn to introduce a broken cigar in exchange for a lollipop.

Polyclinic San Carlos is aware of all the problems that smoking can cause and aims for citizens to join World No Tobacco Day to end cancer and other smoke-derived diseases.

PROBLEMS OF SMOKING

Snuff smoke contains toxic substances 4.000 of which more than 40 are carcinogenic, causing illness and even death. Snuff consumption leaves us alarming figures: 30% of cancers, the 20% of cardiovascular diseases and 80% of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Tobacco is the main avoidable mortality to the world. And is that more than 5 million people die each year from illnesses related to tacabo in the 70% of developed countries.
