The Marina Alta Animalist Platform (PAMA) together with other animal organizations have requested the holding of a popular referendum on the Bous a la Mar. "We think that we citizens must choose what we want for our city, that is why we pay taxes" communicates the organization.
"If the majority does not want and does not participate in a bullfight, we request that we use democracy with a popular referendum so that all citizens registered in the city of Dénia vote for the suppression of the bulls in the July festivities."
To reinforce the request, PAMA has opened a online signature collection with which to join the demand. In its first hours, the petition already has more than 12.000 signatures.
The intention of PAMA and the rest of the animal organizations is that the Bous a la Mar be replaced by "fun and attractive" alternatives in which no animal suffers.
